Technical Notes
MODULES MUST BE ORDERED AND INSTALLED IN PAIRS for Dual Channel mode. Kingston offers "K2" kit part numbers for Dual Channel mode.
Mixing DDR2-533 Registered DIMMs with DDR2-667 Registered with Parity DIMMs is not recommended.
Mixing x4 and x8 modules is allowed, however not within the same bank.
If more than four Dual Rank 667MHz DDR2 DIMMs are installed (per processor bank), the system may clock the memory down to 533MHz. To achieve 64GB using DDR2-667 (32GB per processor bank), EIGHT 4GB Single Rank modules must be installed per processor bank. There is a limit of eight memory ranks per processor bank at this speed.
Per Tyan, modules must be installed beginning with DIMM sockets 7 and 8 for each processor.
